Enable Me Launches U.S. Distribution of REX Bionic System

Hands-Free Mobility Device Completely Self-Supporting and Rapidly Adjustable

Tampa, FL (February 10, 2016) – REX is a hands-free robotic mobility device for rehabilitation. Designed for people with limited mobility, REX is completely self-supporting and can adjust quickly to each user. REX lifts patients from a sitting position into a robot-supported standing position, allowing them to take part in a set of supported walking and stretching exercises designed by specialist physiotherapists.

Learning to use REX is quick and easy, and because it is fully adjustable to the individual within five minutes, it enables a high turnover of patients to use it. REX additionally limits the burden on therapists during manual handling and reduces the amount of help required to assist patients who are undergoing standing therapy.

Users should be between 4 feet, 8 inches (1.42m), and 6 feet, 4 inches (1.93m), with a weight less than 220 pounds (100kg) and a hip width of 15 inches (380mm) or less.

“I use REX in my rehabilitation centres because it can take the user through a range of active assisted movements and can be used as part of a rehabilitation programme for patients with spinal cord injury and hemiplegia arising from stroke or a traumatic brain injury, “said Jon Graham, CEO PhysioFunction, Expert Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Technology Witness, United Kingdom.

Each user must have completed a medical check with their physician to ensure their general health and suitability, as well as a series of checks for range of motion with a qualified physical therapist to ensure they have no contraindications to standing or walking – before beginning rehabilitation with REX.

“Every day, new and innovative products are being introduced around the globe to help people meet the unique challenges posed by neurological illnesses and injuries. We work with leading international manufacturers to offer cutting-edge products to patients and their medical providers,” said Mike Laky, ATP, President and CEO of Enable Me.

He added, “Established researchers at the world’s top universities and hospitals, including Johns Hopkins University, the National Institutes of Health, UCLA, TIRR and the University of Houston have tested and utilized many of our life-changing products in their research and in the daily care and treatment of their patients.”

REX is available only to corporate clients at this time.
